While we’re not suggesting that these are the only steps you need to take to keep your compressor humming along, we will say that if you do these three things regularly your unit is more likely to last longer and keep your facility supplied with the compressed air it needs to function.
1. Change your air filters and fittings
Dirty air filters can do more harm than good by letting in dirt and other gunk that can choke the life out of your system, and contaminate the air getting through to your facility. Check the manufacturer’s specifications for the recommended length of time between filter changes, but use the eyeball test as well. Remove, check and clean filters regularly and if they are too far gone, replace them anytime- don’t wait for the calendar to tell you they need to be replaced.
As for fittings- leaky connections can cost you money in the long run and even the smallest leaks can cause all kinds of trouble. Check your fittings regularly and replace anything that looks worn or leaky.
2. Hose check
The hoses may be the most important element of your system. They can crack and corrode over time, and if that happens you’ve got a leaky system- and that means money. Check your hoses closely and replace them as needed to avoid any trouble. This may take some time, but you’ll find it’s worth it.
3. Drain the tanks
Receiver tank not only collects air, it tends to act as a reservoir for excess water generated by your compressor, particularly in a humid environment. Your tank likely has a drain valve at the bottom- use it regularly (maybe even daily) to drain off excess water and keep that nasty moisture out of your system.
These three things can add to the life of your air compressor, but they’re not the extent of what you can do to keep your compressor working. For more, contact us at +92-21-35870609 and they can give you more steps you can take that will save you all kinds of headaches.
